We are celebrating BC Peacekeeping Veterans Day on August 9th at Crescent Royal Canadian Legion Branch 240 where our Chapter Peacekeeping Cenotaph is erected. The branch is located in Surrey at 2643 - 128th Street in south Surrey near Crescent Beach.
We are also holding our first annual peacekeeping veterans memorial dinner in the evening following the afternoon ceremonies.
The afternoon Cenotaph Ceremonies begin at 14:00 hrs with national anthem, introduction of dignitaries, speeches, opening prayer by Chaplain, presentation of fallen Peacekeeper's presentation by President Herrett CD , Last Post by Bugle Major John More, 2 min. silence , Lament by Crescent Beach Piper, Act of Remembrance by President Herrett CD, Reveille by Bugle Major John More, Benediction by Chaplain, Cenotaph Presentations by various groups. God save the Queen.
The Dinner will be at 19:00 hrs. Tickets are $20.00 each and include the following: buffet dinner, roast beef/chicken, mixed vegetables, roast potatoes, Caesar salad, fresh fruit dessert. Dinner tickets must be bought or reserved by 31 July, as that is the cut off date for sales( for planning by the catering people). Tickets are available at Aldergrove Royal Canadian Legion, Cloverdale Royal Canadian Legion or Crescent Royal Canadian Legion as well as any of the committee members or myself by calling 604-856 4488.
This is our BIG EVENT OF THE YEAR and I encourage every one to come out and support it. Dress is blazer, beret, tie and slacks and of course medals. If you have friends in other associations be sure to extend a warm invitation for them to come and share this act of remembrance with us.
